Deepak Chopra in Costa Rica
Indian-American author, physician and public speaker Deepak Chopra will conduct a conference in Costa Rica at the Centro de Eventos Pedregal in San Antonio of Belen, province of Heredia, on November 24th. Such was the information published by business weekly El Financiero from a wire report released by the Spanish news agency EFE. To this end, event organizer and online ticketing agency eTicket.cr is already offering entrances to the event. The name of this planned conference is Salud: El Futuro del Bienestar, which translates to Health: The Future of Well-Being.
According to a 2013 New York Times profile of Dr. Chopra by Joanne Kaufmann, Dr. Chopra is:
[A] controversial New Age guru and booster of alternative medicine, [who] lives just below the penthouse on the 69th floor of a Midtown West condominium [in Manhattan.]
Biographical information on Wikipedia indicates that Dr. Chopra:
[W]as born in New Delhi, India, to Krishan Lal Chopra (1919–2001) and Pushpa Chopra; his mother tongue is Punjabi (his first name, Deepak, means lamp). Chopra completed his primary education at St. Columba’s School in New Delhi and graduated from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1969. He spent his first months as a doctor working in rural India, including, he writes, six months in a village where the lights went out whenever it rained. It was during his early career that he was drawn to study endocrinology, particularly neuroendocrinology, to find a biological basis for the influence of thoughts and emotions.
As of 2014 Chopra serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School and at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He participates annually as a lecturer at the Update in Internal Medicine event sponsored by Harvard Medical School and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Robert Carroll writes of Chopra charging $25,000 per lecture, “giving spiritual advice while warning against the ill effects of materialism.”

Although Dr. Chopra is expected to deliver his upcoming conference in Costa Rica in English, eTicket.cr is announcing the availability of instant language translation equipment for about $7. According to El Financiero, tickets to the event will cost between $61 and $325.
