U.S. Keeps Costa Rica on Human Trafficking Watch List

The United States on Thursday included Haiti, Venezuela and Belize on its list of countries that are not doing enough to combat people trafficking, a measure that could lead to sanctions, while Colombia and Chile were given the best marks in the hemisphere in a report on the problem. Eight nations appear for the first time on the black list in the State Department’s annual “Trafficking in Persons” report, published on Thursday.
